Christmas Break

Over Christmas break I will probably just be relaxing the whole time. After a stressful past few weeks towards the end of the school semester, a break is way past due. Although I do look foward to spending time with my family and friends. I'm glad Christmas break falls at the end of first semester so there is nothing to worry about and you can focus on the people you love. I can't wait till Christmas morning to see the happiness on my parents and brothers faces and to be able to finally see my entire family. I didn't ask for much for Christmad becasue I have already spent WAY too much money this year. I just asked for little things like phone chargers and makeup. It is insane to think Christmas is so close, we just have to get past what is going to seem like the longest week ever.

College

I want to go to college to get my degree and be able to have a long and successful career. I would like to get both my bachelors and masters degrees. By doing this I will accomplish many things along the way. I hope to grow in continuing my education and developing characteristics that I will have for the rest of my life! When choosing colleges I would want to go to I first look at their degree plans and the cost of the school. Then after I figured that out I look at things that I would enjoy in a college, because after all you will be living there for four years. Things like class sizes and housing are really important when choosing a college. When I get stuck and need some help though, I always know I can go to my mother for help. She went to college right before I was born and then again when I was about 8 to get her masters degree. So I trust what she has to tell me about college, because she has just graduated recently. I can't wait to go to college and achieve all my goals and experience new things that will affect me for the rest of my life. A college degree is extremely important in our worlds today. With a degree I can get the job I want and make a larger amount of money. With my degree I could have the security of knowing that I will get to keep my job for a long time and have the pride of having completed something so difficult!

Thanksgiving Break

Over Thanksgiving break I don't plan on doing much except some homework and spending time with family and friends (kinda the point of a break haha). On Thanksgiving I will probably spend some time with my family and just enjoy their company. I think the most fun thing that I will do this Thanksgiving is me and some of my close friends have planned a "family dinner". I love spending time with them and its a great way to remind yourself to not only spend time with your biological family, but the people you choose to be your family as well! I'm really excited to have this much needed time off to refresh and relax.

Jobs for Students

While looking for jobs for students, You must consider many different factors that go into looking for the perfect job to fit a student's schedule. So, with school and homework, students need jobs that allow them to be flexible with their shifts and work part time. Most jobs available for students are in food or retail because they are expendable positions and don't require much skill to preform. Jobs like working at a fast food resteraunt or at a store in the mall are best for students because they are flexible and easy. It isn't very hard to find a job around you for students. There are plenty of job opportunities for teenagers all the time, the hard part is getting the job. At an interview for a job you should always look very proffessional and clean, you should show off all of your manners and reasons why you think they should hire you. Make sure to come prepared with everything you need (most importantly your resume) and present yourself in a honorable manner. It's not that hard to ge a job, it is all about how you make it. When the process is done it is incredibly satisfying to know you are desired in the work force and is the first step to finding out your actual career.

Homeless to Harvard

I thought this film was quite inspiring. It really made me think about how luck I am to have such easy access to education and how I should take advantage of it. My favorite part is right when she decides she needs to go to school. She is so determined to get into school that she is willing to stay there and be really persistant about it. I don't know if I would be the same as she was. I have never been placed in a situation like that so I wouldn;t know. I would like to think I would be as resilient as her, but that probably wouldn't be the case.

My College Budget

In my college budget at the end I happened to be in so much debt with my tuition. I didn't expect it to be as much as it was. It's crazy the amount of money we have to pay to go to school. I expected to be a few hundred dollars in debt every month but it was a couple thousand. I don't know if I am ready for that responsibility, but in my mind I'll never be. I feel like an adult going to get my hair cut by myself, let alone paying for college and living. I really need to start working and applying for as many scholarships as possible. I also need to get some volunteer hours to stand out among the other applicants. Although my parents are paying for my college, I need to help them out as much as I can.

My Top Career Choice

I am very interested in becoming a Nurse. I chose Nursing because I love everything about the human body and why things like diseases and illnesses happen to us. I also love helping people and caring for someones health might be the greatest way to serve them. My mother is also a Nurse Practitioner, so growing up with it all my life it feels like second nature. There is a certain kind of prestige that comes with anything in the medical field but Nursing especially. Nurses are the people who are hands on with the patient and really get to know them and care for them. Not to mention I will never be out of a job because people will never stop being sick. This career seems like the most possible option for me at the moment, but I change my mind almost monthly it seems! Hopefully in a few years I make up my mind.

Stressed?

When I took the stress test I got a 14, which puts me in the danger zone, just barely though. I don't really think that I am stressed out on many things, I guess that isn't the case! School doesn't really stress me out much.. I think other things outside of school do. I've recently come up with a lot of problems with some of my close relatives moving/living across the world and organizing my own life while trying not to depend on my parents too much anymore. Things are all starting to bunch together with college prep, relationships, school and work. It seems like 24 hours in a day isn't long enough! Although, being organized how I am now really helps out. Just planning my day ahead makes me know the things I need to do so they don't sneak up on me with no time to do them. Even if I can't plan my day out completly and perfectly, it still helps me like crazy just to write down a list of things I need to get done that day. I think with a little bit more work I can really lower my stress levels.

Organization and Procrastination

In order to stay organized through my personal life and my schooling, I write everything down. If it is not down on my calander or my planner it likely will not even happen. Now this means that I have a TON of stuff in my planners and calanders, so in order to still keep organized everything is color cordianted. Each subject in school has a different color that reminds me of them, like English is green and History is orange. All of my personal things are always in pink or purple because those are my favorite colors. I think this is an incredible way to organize your life and keep yourself constantly productive with time for relaxing as well. This organization method gives me plenty of room to move and keep updated with my busy schedule.
Procrastination hurts you in many ways. Not only by not getting your work done, with procrastination you also don't have a good work ethic which can be very harmful. If you don't get your work done that needs to be, you will struggle with that the rest of your life. To get rid of procrstination you can rgnaize your schedule and set aside specific times for doing things. That way you can never use the excuse "I didn't have any time" or "I was too busy". You also need to realize that this work needs to be done and that you can't make excuses. The best thing to do is have someone close to you to hole you accountable to these things. Maybe you can also do the same for them. That way, you aren't alone and it won't seem as that much of a challenge with friends.
